Hurricane Divide (South) July 31, 2011

I day hiked up to the summit of Hurricane Divide (South) which is the high ridge that separates the Lostine Valley and the Hurricane Creek Valley.  I left town at 3:30 am Sunday morning and started hiking by 6:15 am from the Two Pan Trailhead located at the end of the Lostine Forest Rd.  The climb/hike is fairly straight forward,  the first 2.5/3 miles was covered on the East Fork Lostine Trail in which I gained over 1000′ to the open high valley with a picturesque view of Eagle Cap to the south.  From the valley floor I crossed the river and ascended up to the top of the Hurricane Divide then traversed to the high point/summit.  The views were amazing (Check out the video!)

60 down and 40 to go!

The list of completed peaks can be found HERE.
